Empowering Women in Technology: Highlights from the Women+AI Summit
The inaugural Women+AI Summit at Vanderbilt Law School successfully gathered industry professionals, academics, and students to explore the significant role of artificial intelligence in promoting gender equity.
Cat Moon, Founding Co-Director of VAILL and Professor of the Practice at Vanderbilt Law School, co-created the event with Dr. Charreau Belle, emphasizing the urgent need for discussions on women’s roles in AI and technology. Moon stated, In late 2024, I was noticing a constant barrage of data about how women are falling behind in the adoption of AI in the workplace and in education.
The summit, co-hosted by notable leaders including Carolyn Elefant and Vanderbilt Law Lecturer Emily Pavuluri, focused on addressing these disparities through collaboration and empowerment.
Keynote Address and Sessions
The keynote address by Elefant highlighted AI’s transformative potential for women. Experts delved into critical topics like AI bias, responsible development, and the implications of AI on high-stakes areas such as justice reform and employment.
Participant Hannah Kupfer noted, AI can help women manage their responsibilities more efficiently, allowing them to balance work and personal life more effectively.
The discussions reinforced the idea that bridging the gender gap in AI usage is essential for equitable progress.
