Innovation on Display at Hainan Expo
The 5th China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE), also known as the Hainan Expo, commenced on April 13, 2025, attracting over 4,100 brands globally, all eager to tap into the expansive Chinese consumer market.
This year’s expo has put a spotlight on cutting-edge technologies, particularly those involving artificial intelligence (AI), smart homes, and the burgeoning low-altitude economy. Global firms are exhibiting how these advanced technologies are seamlessly blending into daily life.
Humanoid Robots Take Center Stage
One of the expo’s key attractions is the presence of several humanoid robots making their first public appearances. Notably, Chinese robotics company Unitree is unveiling G1, the first mass-produced humanoid robot in China, equipped with 23 to 43 joint motors to perform complex dynamic movements. Additionally, Tesla is showcasing its upgraded humanoid robot, which boasts a 30 percent increased walking speed.
Smart Living Innovations
Smart living solutions are drawing significant interest. Huawei is showcasing its complete HarmonyOS ecosystem, designed to facilitate seamless interaction between users, vehicles, and homes. The company’s foldable Pura X phone features an AI-powered outer display, ensuring an enhanced user experience.
China Mobile is also presenting integrated smart life scenarios, such as robotic dogs tailored to assist elderly citizens living alone and AI home systems that monitor various categories of abnormal behavior.
Low-Altitude Economy on the Rise
For the first time, the expo features a dedicated zone for low-altitude economy innovations. Prominent industry leaders like EHang and XPeng Huitian are debuting several certified products, including drones, electric vertical take-off and landing vehicles, and flying cars. These displays encompass all facets of the industry chain, from manufacturing to 3D traffic management systems.
This year’s expo is not just about viewing; it also provides visitors with tech-driven experiences, showcasing brain-computer interfaces, exoskeletons, and sleep-assistance technology aimed at aiding elderly care. The Hainan Expo runs until April 18, inviting attendees to explore the future of technology.
