According to a report by the Infosys Knowledge Institute, organizations anticipate an average productivity boost of 15% from their current AI projects, with some even expecting gains of up to 40%.

Challenges Surrounding AI Integration

Despite these optimistic projections, the report highlights significant barriers. A mere 2% of organizations are deemed fully prepared across five critical dimensions—talent, strategy, governance, data, and technology. The most considerable hurdle lies in technology readiness, with only 9% of companies equipped with essential AI capabilities such as machine learning frameworks and prebuilt algorithms.

Furthermore, challenges regarding data accuracy and accessibility persist, as around 10% of respondents find it easy to locate and access data for their AI projects.

Insights from Industry Leaders

Mohammed Rafee Tarafdar, Chief Technology Officer at Infosys, stated, ‘To become enterprise-wide AI-ready, it is imperative to establish a robust and scalable foundation.’ He underscored the need for an AI foundry and factory model that can effectively scale AI initiatives across organizations.

Executives view AI as a revolutionary force potentially transforming business models and the global economy. However, many companies are struggling to lay the foundational elements necessary for successful enterprise AI integration.

Strategies for Overcoming Hurdles

To fully realize the benefits of AI, enterprises must address these readiness gaps and foster a culture of innovation. A well-defined AI strategy aligned with business objectives is essential, incorporating technology investments and ethical considerations.

As Jeff Kavanaugh, Head of Infosys Knowledge Institute, remarked, ‘The time to invest in AI readiness is now.’ He emphasized that AI is not just a future aspiration; it is a vital foundation for maintaining competitive advantage.
