Bain & Company has announced significant enhancements to the leadership of its digital practices, focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) and enterprise technology. In response to high client demand, the firm is committed to scaling its capabilities in these crucial areas.
Transformational Role of AI
As AI technology continues to evolve, Bain has seen a rapid expansion of its AI practice. Currently, technology- and AI-enabled revenues account for about 30% of its business, with projections indicating this figure will surpass 50% in the coming years.
Bain’s work in AI is central to over 25% of its overall operations, a number that is expected to grow significantly in the near future.

Returning from his role as Co-chief Operating Officer at Dell Technologies, Whitten brings extensive experience from his previous 22 years with Bain. In his new role, he will lead efforts across AI, data science, enterprise technology, innovation, and design.
Alongside Whitten, Sarah Elk has been named the Americas leader of Bain’s AI, Insights, and Solutions practice, continuing to advance client value in those regions.
Bain is also expanding its global delivery team, led by Stuart Sim, who will manage the firm’s extensive AI, data, and engineering teams.
Bain’s Growing Digital Ecosystem
The firm is rapidly increasing its digital and AI capabilities and now collaborates with over 700 partner organizations. This includes key alliances with major tech companies like OpenAI, Microsoft, and Google, further enhancing its service offerings.
Notable recent projects include initiatives with Carrefour to integrate OpenAI technologies, showcasing AI-driven solutions in real-world applications. Clients such as Coca-Cola and American Express are also leveraging Bain’s expertise in AI to drive innovation.
Commitment to Responsible AI Use
Bain is focused on integrating AI responsibly, implementing an AI Responsible Use Policy and participating in the Microsoft Responsible AI Partner Initiative to ensure ethical implementation of AI technologies.
Christophe De Vusser, Bain’s Worldwide Managing Partner, emphasized that these leadership changes are designed to help clients navigate the current technology-driven disruptions, declaring that the firm’s leadership is crucial for creating innovative value in the AI era.
With these strategic enhancements, Bain & Company aims to position itself as a leader in digital transformation and AI innovation, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of its clients effectively.
