Global AI Adoption: Leaders Gaining an Edge
New research from Rackspace Technology reveals a significant gap in AI implementation among organizations worldwide. The study, titled ‘The AI Acceleration Gap’, surveyed 1,400 IT decision-makers, including 269 from the Asia-Pacific region, highlighting a stark disparity: only 13% of organizations are considered ‘AI Leaders’. These leaders have integrated AI into their core strategies and are scaling their initiatives three times faster than their peers, securing a competitive advantage.
“While nearly every organization is exploring AI, these forward-thinking companies are acting early rather than waiting for technology maturation,” said Srini Koushik, president of AI, Technology and Sustainability at Rackspace. “They’re confidently scaling their initiatives and reaping the benefits of exponential growth.”
Performance and Investment Highlights
Organizations classified as AI Leaders outperform others in customer experience, productivity, innovation, and time-to-market. An impressive 95% report full organizational alignment on AI, and 75% have fully trained teams. Globally, AI investments surged from $2.5 million to $8.7 million, with Asia-Pacific leading at $11.3 million. Adhil Badat, managing director for APJ at Rackspace, emphasizes that AI is now a strategic core for many organizations, not just a future prospect.
Challenges and Opportunities
Despite growth, challenges remain, with customer experience identified as the top KPI by 51% of organizations. Cybersecurity remains both a concern and a key application area. Meanwhile, 72% of organizations in APAC report difficulty scaling AI initiatives, highlighting the need for effective strategies to manage growth and complexity.
Google’s New AI Search Mode in India
In a significant development, Google has launched its AI Mode in India, enhancing the search experience with advanced reasoning capabilities. Powered by a custom version of Gemini 2.5, AI Mode allows users to pose longer, more nuanced questions, reducing the need for multiple searches. This feature utilizes a ‘query fan-out technique’, breaking down complex questions into subtopics and performing multiple related searches simultaneously.
“AI Mode not only provides access to high-quality web content but also taps into real-time sources like the Knowledge Graph and shopping data,” said Hema Budaraju, Google Vice President, Product Management. Users can interact via voice, text, or images, making it a versatile tool for various exploratory tasks.
How to Access Google’s AI Mode
Interested users in India can try the feature by signing up at labs.google.com and enabling the ‘AI Mode’ experiment. Once activated, they can click on the ‘Try AI Mode’ button or select the ‘AI Mode’ tab during a Google search for enhanced querying options.
Google emphasizes that since AI Mode is still in early stages, some responses may not always be accurate, and results will default to web search if confidence is low. The feature is multimodal, supporting voice, text, and image queries, and integrates Lens capabilities for visual questions.
Conclusion
The rapid advancement and adoption of AI underscore its importance in shaping the future of technology and business. As organizations learn to navigate challenges and leverage new tools like Google’s AI Mode, the race for innovation intensifies. Are your strategies aligned with this AI revolution?
