AI and Robotics Transform Firefighting at International Tech Conference

Revolutionizing Firefighting

Oklahoma City hosts the International Fire Chiefs Association tech conference, highlighting cutting-edge technology reshaping firefighting. From artificial intelligence that enhances responder efficiency to robots assisting during dangerous situations, the future of firefighting is being showcased firsthand.

AI for Firefighters

“We’ve got a video-based AI system for firefighters,” said Simon Goodhead, President, CEO and Founder of Flash Inspector. His innovative product helps fire inspectors generate detailed reports much faster.

Goodhead shared an anecdote about a fire inspector who spent a week writing a report. Recognizing the inefficiency, he developed a solution that typically allows inspectors to have reports ready in just 10-15 minutes. Inspectors can wear the system, press a button, and talk about observations. The AI system processes the video and generates the report automatically.

Robotics in Action

Meanwhile, Siddharth Thakur, Founder and CEO of Paradigm Robotics, showcased a fire-bot designed specifically for search and rescue operations in hazardous environments. “It is a purpose-built robot that can locate victims much faster than a firefighter can, operating effectively in the most challenging conditions,” Thakur explained.

Networking for Progress

Thakur emphasized the significance of the conference, where technology innovators can network and push the industry forward. The conference continues through Friday, offering insights and opportunities for collaboration.
