Rise in AI-Powered Cybersecurity Implementation
The share of chief operating officers (COOs) who report that their companies have implemented artificial intelligence (AI)-powered automated cybersecurity management systems has increased threefold since earlier this year. According to the December edition of the PYMNTS Intelligence report, titled The AI MonitorEdge Report: COOs Leverage GenAI to Reduce Data Security Losses, the share of COOs utilizing these systems rose to 55% in August, up from about 17% in May.
AI Boosts Security Amid Sophisticated Attacks
These COOs are relying on GenAI-driven solutions to enhance cybersecurity management in a climate of increasingly sophisticated cyberattack threats. There is a notable shift from reactive security approaches to proactive AI-driven frameworks, enabling organizations to identify fraudulent activities, detect anomalies, and provide real-time threat assessments.
AI-Powered Cybersecurity Saves Revenue
There is a strong belief among COOs in AI’s capability to tackle immediate challenges and foster long-term growth. Companies integrating GenAI into their cybersecurity management have reported an estimated 5.9% savings in annual revenue over the past year, with those seeing a very positive return on investment (ROI) estimating a saving of 7.7%. COOs anticipate a positive return in 5.6 years, along with full integration of AI technologies within 6.9 years.
Automating Security Response
AI is reshaping how security teams respond to cyberthreats by automating initial stages of incident investigation, thus accelerating response times. This change comes amid a rise in AI-driven threats where cybercriminals have increasingly utilized AI tactics.
AI Enables a Proactive Approach
The democratization of AI technologies has empowered even amateur cybercriminals, prompting organizations to adopt advanced security measures to manage these evolving threats. Examples of AI-powered tools include real-time analysis of URLs and emails to combat phishing and social engineering attacks.
For organizations striving to assure cybersecurity, relying on AI-powered solutions has become a crucial strategy in the ongoing battle against sophisticated cyber threats.
