Industry Leaders Share AI Success Stories

In a recent virtual event hosted by EXL, industry leaders gathered to discuss the significant impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on business transformation. The session, titled ‘AI in Action: Driving the Shift to Scalable AI,’ showcased real-world examples of how enterprises are leveraging AI to improve operations and business outcomes.
Rohit Kapoor, the chairman and CEO of EXL, emphasized that ‘the key to driving real impact lies in seamlessly integrating data and AI into the way businesses work.’ He noted that while implementing technology is important, it is equally crucial to orchestrate data, digital solutions, and human intelligence to enhance decision-making.
The Rise of Agentic AI
One of the focal points of the discussion was the concept of agentic AI, which refers to autonomous, self-regulating AI agents capable of automating complex business workflows. Kevin Ichhpurani, president of global partner ecosystem at Google Cloud, highlighted a mutual client example where AI agents understand customer intent and make informed decisions that enhance service efficiency.
‘We see [2025] as the year of delivering agentic experiences for clients, where we automate complete end-to-end business processes,’ Ichhpurani mentioned. To facilitate this, EXL has launched EXLerate.AI, a platform designed to integrate AI models with human expertise, enabling businesses to deploy AI solutions effortlessly.
Throughout the event, participants demonstrated EXL’s innovative tools, including EXL Code Harbor, a generative AI-powered platform for code migration, and a specialized Insurance Large Language Model (LLM) aimed at addressing challenges in claims and underwriting processes. John Fanelli from NVIDIA noted that this insurance model enhances the productivity and accuracy of claim adjusters.
Shifting Perspectives on Data
Panels during the event explored current trends in AI and the evolving relationship between data quality and AI capabilities. Sidd Kuckreja from TruStage pointed out a crucial shift in focus from the quantity of data to its quality, particularly concerning regulatory implications, bias handling, and privacy issues.
Randy Huang of Prudential and Preetha Sekharan from Unum echoed these sentiments, emphasizing security, governance, and the transformative potential of AI in accelerating data understanding and generation.
AI’s Competitive Advantage
On another panel, representatives from different organizations demonstrated how AI contributes to maintaining a competitive edge. For instance, NRG Energy utilizes AI for weather modeling, impacting energy price forecasting, while BNY incorporates AI systems to promote ethical and responsible innovation at scale. Additionally, Dr. Ashish Atreja from UC Davis Medical Center discussed how AI is transforming healthcare access through automation of care pathways.
As the conversation concluded, it became evident that the integration of AI is more than technological progress; it signifies a major shift in business practices. ‘AI is not just a technological shift,’ Kapoor asserted. ‘It’s a fundamental business transformation.’
