Asia-Pacific’s AI Ambitions Depend on Next-Generation Networks
The Asia-Pacific region is rapidly recognizing the importance of robust network infrastructure to achieve its AI ambitions. A recent IDC report, titled ‘Enterprise Horizons 2025: Technology Leaders Priorities: Achieving Digital Agility,’ highlights the significant challenges posed by current network limitations in unlocking AI’s transformative potential.
Commissioned by Expereo, the survey involved 650 technology leaders across Europe, the US, and APAC. Findings reveal that networking and connectivity are now top priorities for APAC organizations, with 43% planning to increase their investments in this area over the next year.
Eric Wong, president of Expereo for Asia Pacific, emphasized, ‘This prioritisation of networking reflects a critical shift in perspective. APAC businesses understand that AI success depends on the ability to move data, connect systems, and deliver applications with speed and reliability.’
However, the report paints a stark picture: 94% of companies surveyed indicated their current networks impair their ability to execute large data and AI projects. Many find their existing infrastructure lacks the agility, capacity, and performance necessary for AI workloads, which can lead to lost productivity and increased costs.
Additional insights from the IDC InfoBrief include:
- Financial Losses: Half of the companies reported experiencing revenue losses due to unreliable or outdated networks.
- Outsourcing Network Improvements: Many organizations are turning to managed service providers to meet their complex network needs.
- Sustainability: Modernizing networks presents opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions, aligning with APAC’s focus on sustainable development.
As the region seeks to lead in an AI-driven economy, addressing network limitations will be vital to stay competitive and innovative.
