Babson College’s IT Department Recognized for AI Innovation in 2025 CIO 100 Awards

Babson College’s IT Department Recognized for AI Innovation

For the second consecutive year, Babson College’s Information Technology Services Department (ITSD) has earned recognition for its pioneering contributions in the educational sphere. The department has been named a CIO 100 Award winner for 2025 due to its innovative initiative, “EduAI Revolution,” showcasing the College’s effective “All-In” AI strategy.

Last year, ITSD earned honor for its project, “Transforming Babson College,” reflecting its technological advancements across two years.

In the early stages of the generative AI movement, faculty members from The Generator, Babson College’s interdisciplinary AI lab, collaborated with ITSD professionals to augment AI applications in classroom settings. By early 2024, CIO Patty Patria and Generator lead Erik Noyes formulated a comprehensive strategy for embedding AI into the educational curriculum, aimed at refining instruction, personalizing student experiences, and optimizing administrative practices.

Patria stated, ‘This collaborative effort has revolutionized student engagement by integrating AI in lessons and utilizing targeted tools to address learning gaps.’

Among Babson’s AI initiatives is the establishment of an AI Dashboard, which tracks AI usage alongside grant funding and various key metrics. Additional developments include the launch of the Foundations of AI Badge for the academic community, procuring licenses of M365 Copilot for faculty, piloting MathBot technology in statistics classes, and appointing a senior director of AI analytics to enhance collaboration with faculty and students.
The CIO 100 Awards, organized by CIO—prominent for providing insights into IT leadership—recognizes organizations leveraging technology innovatively to foster growth and enhance customer relationships.

The awards are set to be presented at the CIO 100 Symposium and Awards conference on August 11-13 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
