AI features on Booking.com

Booking.com Expands AI-Powered Features for Seamless Travel Planning

Digital travel platform Booking.com is enhancing its artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities. Announced on October 30, this expansion aims to simplify the travel planning process for users.

Among the new features is Smart Filter, which allows travelers to express their ideal property needs in their own words. This technology leverages generative AI to sift through Booking.com’s vast inventory, facilitating a more intuitive search experience.

Another groundbreaking feature, Property Q&A, enables travelers to inquire about specific properties directly. The AI-powered tool quickly retrieves information from property listings, reviews, and photos, streamlining the decision-making process.

‘Our journey with AI for over a decade has always been about leveraging technology to make travel more intuitive and personalized,’ said Joe Futty, VP of product marketplace at Booking.com. ‘With GenAI, we’re not just enhancing the trip planning process — we’re facilitating experiences that adapt to travelers’ needs faster than ever.’

Looking ahead, Futty noted that generative AI could assist travelers with real-time solutions for issues like flight cancellations.

This development reflects a growing trend in the travel sector toward embracing AI technologies. For instance, Google showcased its AI system, Gemini, recently aimed at enhancing customer service within the travel industry.

‘The collaboration between tech giants and traditional travel service providers signals a promising future for AI integration in travel,’ PYMNTS stated.

In another example, United Airlines has introduced AI-driven technology to improve passenger information during weather-related delays, enhancing customer communication significantly.
