Boys Town Pioneers AI-Enhanced Training for Caregivers
Boys Town, a Nebraska-based leader in transforming children’s lives and aiding families nationwide, has announced significant advancements in its training methodologies. On November 25, 2024, the organization revealed the filing of patents for two revolutionary AI-integrated systems aimed at enhancing virtual training and mixed reality technology.
Innovative Training Systems
The new AI-driven application is designed to equip caregivers with essential techniques for implementing the Boys Town Model in teaching social skills to children. These AI-powered characters simulate children’s behavior, creating realistic interactions that enhance training effectiveness. Caregivers can communicate with these characters using natural language, while the system utilizes computer vision to provide real-time feedback on their responses.
Accessible Communication through Technology
Another significant innovation introduced by Boys Town facilitates communication between individuals using American Sign Language (ASL) and those who speak verbally. This technology translates ASL into spoken words and converts spoken language to text, displayed as captions on smart eyewear. This breakthrough aims to assist those facing communication barriers, particularly children and families dealing with hearing loss.
