China to Enhance Support for AI and Technology Innovation
In a decisive initiative, China has announced plans to strengthen support for the application of artificial intelligence (AI) and foster the growth of venture capital investments. This move aims to promote technological breakthroughs and enhance the country’s self-reliance.
The announcement was made public in a government document ahead of the upcoming session of the National People’s Congress (NPC), China’s legislative body.
Focus on Future Industries
According to the report, China is keen to develop what it describes as “industries of the future,” which includes areas like biomanufacturing, quantum technology, embodied AI, and 6G technology. To achieve these goals, it plans to explore new models for national laboratories and significantly support emerging scientists and engineers.
Support for AI Technologies
The initiative highlights intentions to enhance the implementation of large-scale AI models and the advancement of next-generation intelligent terminal systems and smart manufacturing solutions. This is the first time AI models have been officially mentioned in the NPC work report, notably following the recent achievements of Chinese AI startup DeepSeek.
China stated, ‘We will strive to create an enabling environment for innovation that encourages exploration and tolerates failure.’
Improving Data Systems
Additionally, the country plans to accelerate the improvement of basic data systems to foster better cross-border data flow.
