Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai AI Week took place from April 21 to 25, attracting a host of global experts, policymakers, and industry leaders. The event served as a pivotal platform to push forward collaborations and innovations in artificial intelligence, with the goal of transforming Dubai into a leading AI hub.

Among the key events held during the week were the AI Retreat, Dubai Assembly for AI, and the Global Prompt Engineering Championship, alongside cultural festivities like the Dubai AI Festival and the Machines Can See summit. These events fostered discussion on both the technological advancements and the regulatory frameworks necessary for responsible AI development.

“Every single conversation about AI that takes place across the world today talks about two paradigms: innovation and regulation,” said H.E. Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence. “There is another paradigm that many overlook, which is acceleration. We believe in pushing this technology forward rapidly but responsibly.”

The Museum of the Future showcased its upgraded humanoid robot ‘Ameca,’ which demonstrates advanced human interaction capabilities, illustrating Dubai’s commitment to cutting-edge robotics.

Digital Dubai and the Dubai Future Foundation presented the inaugural Dubai State of AI Report, highlighting the emirate’s rapid AI adoption across government functions. The report details real-world applications such as predictive healthcare, urban mobility digital twins, and AI-driven administrative platforms that already show measurable benefits. Projected economic contributions from AI could reach AED 235 billion by 2030, supporting Dubai’s vision of integrating AI into 14% of the UAE’s GDP.

In the healthcare sector, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) launched a comprehensive AI training program for its staff, encouraging private sector participation to build a future-ready health ecosystem. TGC, a Dubai-based startup, introduced an AI-powered cloud gaming platform, aligning with Dubai’s vision to dominate gaming and emerging tech sectors globally. The platform offers over 1,300 AAA titles accessible on any device, without expensive hardware.

The event was supported by prominent global technology partners such as Google Cloud, Microsoft, Meta, IBM, NVIDIA, and open AI pioneers like OpenAI and Palantir Technologies. Local collaborators included Dubai’s health and security authorities, with the Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy playing a vital role.

This week of innovation not only highlighted technological advances but also signaled Dubai’s strategic efforts to foster an AI-driven economy, emphasizing the importance of balanced regulation to sustain long-term growth.
