DXC Technology Leverages AI to Revitalize Business Processes

DXC Technology has been tapping into artificial intelligence (AI) for decades, but its recent efforts are seen as a significant push to enhance operational efficiency. Howard Boville, the executive vice president at DXC Technology, shared with ARN that AI is playing a pivotal role in accelerating projects across both public and private sectors.

“Essentially, any undertaking is a series of processes, and every industry has established pathways to service markets and build products,” Boville stated. He highlighted that AI acts as a “huge accelerant” in addressing the rigidity that often hinders responsiveness in business processes.

Boville explained that over time, business processes can become too rigid, or “calcified,” to adapt to shifting market demands. He emphasized that AI provides a level of agility that was not previously attainable.

Despite the recent focus, he noted that DXC has long utilized AI through neural networks and machine learning, rather than just relying on large language models.

Richard James, vice president of consulting and engineering services for Asia Pacific, Japan, the Middle East and Africa (APJMEA), emphasized the importance of enhancing workforce skills to deliver better outcomes with lower costs and risk. He said, “We’ve been spending a lot more time with customers to understand how they want to prioritize these investments and what business problems they want to address.”

Boville envisions a future where DXC’s workforce is equipped with skills for the AI-driven landscape. He stated, “We’re putting the resources in place to assure that people feel they belong in terms of the pace that we’re moving towards.”

To illustrate this, he mentioned the company’s young professionals program, where new consultants are encouraged to innovate and determine how AI will shape the future. “They are the future. You will determine how AI is used, and you have the skills to create whatever future that you want,” Boville expressed.

James echoed Boville’s sentiments, recognizing that fostering talent and providing career progression are crucial to keeping employees engaged and empowered in the evolving tech landscape.

DXC’s commitment to AI is also demonstrated through its Career Navigator platform, which employs AI as a key enabler for supporting employee career development.
