Kellanova, known for its popular snack brands such as Pringles and Rice Krispies Treats, is highlighting AI as part of its strategic technology priorities for the upcoming year.

AI throughout the Supply Chain

David Lestage, Kellanova’s Chief R&D Officer, detailed how AI assists in addressing operational challenges. By utilizing advanced AI platforms, the company can identify alternative ingredient sources during supply disruptions, streamlining its operations without incurring significant downtime. ‘The technology allows for quick adaptations that ultimately reduce labor burdens,’ Lestage mentioned.

Both Kellanova and Ingredion are also leveraging AI to navigate rapidly changing regulatory landscapes, especially in light of ongoing trade tensions. Kellanova employs a tool called RegAsk to stay updated on global regulations pertinent to their business, helping employees focus on strategic tasks rather than becoming bogged down by complex compliance issues.

Chad Davis, Ingredion’s Vice President of Global Supply Chain, explained how the company predicts disruptions through a model of its supply chain network. This digital twin enables Ingredion to assess the impact of potential events and prepare accordingly. ‘We input changes in our global simulation when interruptions occur, providing us with actionable solutions,’ Davis explained.

Consumer Trends and AI Insights

In addition to supply chain benefits, AI is instrumental in predicting consumer preferences. Kellanova utilizes insights from Tastewise to inform product development, maximizing its ability to respond to market demands. ‘AI has accelerated our timelines significantly, allowing us to adapt quickly to consumer feedback,’ Lestage said.

Tastewise’s innovative platform analyzes vast amounts of data to identify trends, supporting companies in tailoring their offerings to meet changing consumer needs effectively. ‘Winning companies personalize their approaches based on consumer insights,’ remarked Tastewise COO Tal Tochner.
