The data reveals that 85% of these leaders are exploring or have adopted generative AI capabilities, with a notable trend towards implementation rather than merely proof-of-concept.

Out of the respondents, many are actively in the implementation stage, suggesting that organizations are making tangible investments in generative AI technology. However, 15% of leaders noted that they are yet to create any proof-of-concept use cases.

Focus on Third-Party Vendor Partnerships

The survey highlighted strong interest in partnerships with third-party vendors, as 61% of leaders plan to collaborate to develop customized AI tools. Interestingly, 58% are looking to their existing IT vendors for this purpose, while 46% are considering partnerships with hyperscalers due to their expertise in data management.

Leaders identified key applications of generative AI, including enhancing administrative efficiency and clinical productivity. Furthermore, they see potential in using generative AI to improve patient engagement, IT infrastructure, and overall operational capabilities.

Measuring ROI

Among those implementing generative AI, 64% reported positive ROI, reflecting high expectations for the technology’s impact on healthcare. The necessity of a well-strategized approach to ensure successful deployment is emphasized by the survey authors, who noted the importance of strong management and delivery capabilities.
