Georgetown University Expands Global Reach with New Affiliates

Georgetown University’s Massive Data Institute (MDI) has launched a Non-Resident Affiliates program aimed at connecting prominent scholars and practitioners in data science, technology, and policy globally. This initiative, starting in September 2024, seeks to amplify significant research and foster collaboration across disciplines.

The inaugural members of this program are Dr. Eleni Antoniadou Dimokidis and Andrew Gamino-Cheong. Both individuals are recognized leaders in their respective fields, bringing a wealth of experience and expertise to MDI.

Meet the New Affiliates

Dr. Dimokidis leads health care technology innovation at Amazon Web Services for Asia Pacific and Japan, focusing on digital transformations within healthcare systems. With a diverse academic background, including a Ph.D. in regenerative medicine, she emphasizes ethical discussions on large-scale health technology implementation.

“I look forward to collaborating with MDI to explore innovative solutions for advancing emerging technologies like Generative AI applications for health care,” Dimokidis stated.

Andrew Gamino-Cheong (C

Andrew Gamino-Cheong, co-founder and CTO of Trustible, an AI governance software company, is also joining this program. His work centers around managing AI risk and developing responsible AI practices.

He remarked, “My undergraduate research on privacy exposure with Professor Singh shaped a lot of my current work thinking about the risks of emerging technologies like AI.”

MDI plans to host a networking event on December 9 to allow community members to engage with Dimokidis and Gamino-Cheong, fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration.
