Hong Kong Emerges as a Hotspot for Chinese AI Start-ups

Hong Kong: A Gateway for Chinese AI Start-ups

Hong Kong is becoming a preferred destination for mainland Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) start-ups seeking expansion into international markets, as highlighted at a recent technology symposium held in the city.

Executives attending the event discussed the significant advantages that Hong Kong offers, including access to a talented workforce, global influence, and supportive governmental policies aimed at promoting innovation.

Co-founder Liu Jun of CloudWalk Technology, an AI firm based in Guangzhou, expressed interest in establishing operations in Hong Kong. He mentioned that the Greater Bay Area presents an innovative environment comparable to that of cities like Hangzhou, which houses established companies like DeepSeek and Unitree Robotics.

Liu Jun noted, ‘The Greater Bay Area boasts an innovative atmosphere rivaling Hangzhou.’

The current trend sees a growing influx of Chinese AI start-ups setting up in Hong Kong to raise funds, attract global talent, and forge connections with international markets. This move aligns with Hong Kong’s strategy to leverage AI technology for revitalizing traditional industries and enhancing the city’s developmental outlook.

CloudWalk’s initiative is part of a larger narrative where technological advancements in the region are poised to rewire global perceptions of Hong Kong as an integral tech hub.
