Achievements of the IBM Sustainability Accelerator
The IBM Sustainability Accelerator, launched in 2022, employs IBM’s technologies to aid nonprofits and governments in overcoming environmental challenges. It operates on a design-thinking model, supporting organizations to align with the UN’s sustainable development goals (SDGs) over a two-year period. Notably, initiatives have benefited over 65,000 smallholder farmers, enhancing their agricultural yields and livelihoods.

Nixon-Saintil indicated that India’s agricultural sector has vast transformative potential, especially through digital technologies like AI and IoT. These tools can facilitate precision farming, predict weather changes, and automate tasks.

IBM’s CRM Connect app has helped more than 1,000 farmers in North India manage crop residue burning, showcasing a successful partnership with local organizations for environmental benefits.
Future Aspirations
Alongside sustainability, IBM aspires to enhance access to essential skills in areas like AI and cybersecurity, aiming to train 30 million individuals by 2030.
