LG Electronics Partners with Microsoft at CES 2025

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — LG Electronics announced its strategic partnership with Microsoft during a press conference at CES 2025, held at the Mandalay Bay Hotel on January 6. This collaboration aims to drive advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) by merging customer insights from LG’s extensive network of devices with Microsoft’s cutting-edge AI technologies.

CEO Cho Joo-wan highlighted the partnership’s focus on developing AI agents tailored for various environments, including homes, vehicles, and hotels. He stated, ‘This collaboration will leverage our insights to create solutions that enhance customer experiences through AI.’

The partnership will utilize Microsoft’s speech recognition advancements in LG’s AI home hub project, enabling it to understand diverse customer accents and contexts.

Moreover, Cho indicated that they plan to co-create a new AI agent, designed to not only interact with users but also predict their needs. Microsoft’s executive vice president, Judson Althoff, emphasized the importance of this collaboration, particularly within the growing AI data center sector, expressing optimism about developing optimal solutions that incorporate LG’s innovative cooling technologies.

Cho expressed LG’s commitment to creating ‘affectionate’ AI, which he described as technology that empathizes with customers. He argued, ‘Affectionate intelligence that cares and empathizes with customers is now evolving into a technology that provides a comprehensive experience.’

With billions of smart devices in operation across different sectors, LG’s extensive network offers the potential for rich insights into consumer lifestyles, further enhancing their AI capabilities.

As part of this initiative, LG’s generative AI agent, FURON, will serve as the core of its smart home technology. FURON will analyze real-time customer data to manage various devices effectively, aligning with LG’s vision of an intuitive and responsive living environment.

This collaboration, presented on a global stage like CES, marks a significant step forward for both companies in the AI space.
