National Summit Tackles AI Technology and Misinformation in the 2025 Elections
Key officials from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the National Citizen’s Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel), along with digital experts and campaign stakeholders, convened to discuss critical strategies to protect Filipino voters and political candidates from the threats posed by artificial intelligence (AI), deep fakes, and misinformation during the 2025 elections.
This important dialogue took place at the three-day National Election Game Changer Summit held from November 25 to 27 at the Marquis Events Hall in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
The summit, hosted by research firm Capstone Intel Corp., aimed to provide a platform for enhancing knowledge and awareness among public and election stakeholders regarding digital innovations and how they can be leveraged to ensure a fair electoral process.
The discussions highlighted the urgent need to address the evolving landscape of misinformation, especially with the advent of new technologies that can easily manipulate public perception.
Participants explored proposals and frameworks that could help in crafting effective policies to safeguard the integrity of the elections while also considering the implications of AI technologies.
