During a keynote address at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang articulated the significance of this shift, saying, ‘The AV revolution has arrived after so many years, with Waymo’s success and Tesla’s success.’
Nvidia recently announced a collaboration with Uber, whereby the two companies will work together to create AI-powered self-driving technology. This initiative will utilize data from millions of Uber trips, combined with Nvidia’s new generative world foundation model, Cosmos, to enhance virtual training for AI systems.
“Generative AI will power the future of mobility, requiring both rich data and very powerful compute,” remarked Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi. ‘By working with Nvidia, we are confident that we can help supercharge the timeline for safe and scalable autonomous driving solutions for the industry.’
Expanding the Horizons of AV Technology
In addition to Uber, Toyota aims to integrate its upcoming vehicles with Nvidia’s Drive AGX platform to enhance advanced driving assistance capabilities. Meanwhile, companies like Aurora and Continental are focusing on deploying driverless trucks at scale.
Nvidia’s influence is not limited to these partnerships. The company believes the autonomous vehicle market ‘is going to be very large,’ predicting that it will evolve into ‘the first multitrillion-dollar robotics industry.’
