NIMP 2030 Strategic Co-Investment Fund Announced
On March 29, 2025, the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) announced the selection of seven equity crowdfunding (ECF) and peer-to-peer (P2P) financing platforms to participate in the RM131.5 million New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) Strategic Co-Investment Fund (CoSIF).
The ECF platforms chosen include pitchIN, Mystartr, Leet Capital, and Crowdo, whereas the P2P platforms selected are Funding Societies Malaysia, CapBay, and B2B Finpal. All selected platforms are officially registered with the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC).
A Boost for SMEs
The fund aims to assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and mid-tier companies (MTCs) in scaling up through technology by mobilizing capital via a public-private crowdfunding model. It specifically targets businesses in strategic sectors requiring substantial financial backing for their high-tech or impactful projects.
According to MITI, “With an initial allocation of RM131.5 million, the NIMP CoSIF will begin co-investing through these platforms to support growth in 21 target sectors outlined in the NIMP 2030 blueprint.”
Comments from the Minister
MITI Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz emphasized the importance of nurturing SMEs and MTCs to ensure technological competitiveness in a rapidly evolving global landscape. He stated, “So we, as a nation, can keep up technologically to remain competitive.”
The Minister further mentioned that this collaboration with private sector platforms is crucial in enhancing Malaysia’s economic complexity, accelerating technology adoption, and embarking on sustainability initiatives.
Funding Process Explained
The selection of the platforms was based on their previous contributions to fundraising within the ECF and P2P ecosystem, deeming them suitable for the CoSIF scheme. To access funding, companies must launch a campaign on any of the participating platforms, which will evaluate their eligibility based on criteria aligned with NIMP 2030’s goals.
Applications for NIMP CoSIF funding will open on May 2, 2025. Detailed information about eligible sectors and co-investment ratios can be found on the fund’s website.
