Tech Days Returns to UNM with Focus on AI and Open Educational Resources

The University of New Mexico will host its annual Tech Days on April 17-18 at the Student Union Building. This event, organized by the Office of the Chief Information Officer, is aimed at showcasing current and future technologies.

Tech Days offers an exclusive chance for students, faculty, and staff to attend no-cost sessions and hands-on demonstrations focused on the latest technological innovations. Interested participants can register online. Early registration is encouraged due to limited space, with a registration deadline set for April 4.

This year, the event will emphasize artificial intelligence (AI). The keynote speech will be given by University Libraries Dean Leo Lo, who will discuss the importance of AI literacy in addressing the challenges and opportunities in higher education.

A hybrid track dedicated to the New Mexico Open Educational Resources (OER) program will also feature sessions on innovative pedagogical strategies. Attendees will learn how OER can help make college more affordable and reduce failure rates.

The agenda will include sessions on various topics, from Smartsheet and Excel to data analysis tools, suitable for both technical and non-technical audiences. More than 45 hands-on presentations will provide valuable insights into enhancing productivity using the latest technologies.

Additionally, a sponsor showcase will be set up in the SUB Ballroom, featuring key technology vendors who will be available for discussions and product inquiries. They will also provide giveaways and prizes throughout the event.
