The Future of Technology: Insights and Innovations to Expect in 2025

Euronews Next has consulted experts to uncover expectations for the future of technology as we approach 2025. The year promises a blend of innovations, particularly in artificial intelligence, social media, and cryptocurrency.

AI: More Agents and Data Centres

Artificial intelligence made considerable strides in 2024, enabling significant discoveries like deciphering ancient scrolls. In 2025, we anticipate a surge in the use of AI agents across various sectors.

Kari Briski, of Nvidia, states, ‘Enterprises are set to have a slew of AI agents, which are semiautonomous, trained models that work across internal networks to help with customer service and more.’

With the rise of these technologies, AI factories and data centres are also expected to proliferate, as highlighted by Nvidia’s Charlie Boyle. He notes, ‘Pioneering organisations will transition to liquid cooling for better performance and energy efficiency.’

Tech in Europe: Cleantech AI Start-ups

In Europe, green AI tech is poised to make a mark. Federico Menna from EIT Digital mentions, ‘The big important development for Europe next year will be the continued growth of AI in the sustainability domain.’

He adds that it is likely we will see more investment in cleantech start-ups, particularly in Eastern Europe, with Romania leading the technological innovations.

Quantum Technology: Rising Threats

Quantum advancements are on the rise, highlighted by Google’s recent announcements, and experts foresee quantum cryptography becoming more critical as potential threats from quantum computing emerge. Menna explains, ‘Quantum cryptography will probably be very important for governments.’

Social Media: New Regulations and Advertising Focus

The landscape of social media is evolving, with the emergence of new regulations and an emphasis on user privacy. ‘Users will lean more towards privacy-friendly platforms,’ says Nighat Dad, an Internet activist.

As advertising becomes increasingly influential, she predicts, ‘Advertisers will come out as big stakeholders in 2025.’

AI and Robotics: Future Developments

The year 2025 will also see exciting developments in robotics. David Reger from Neura Robotics comments on the potential availability of household robots, mentioning, ‘We will see the first prototypes of robots that can navigate outside structured industrial environments.’

Cryptocurrency: Understanding and Acceptance

Cryptocurrency remains a focal point, with leaders in the industry noting a likely increase in acceptance. Pascal Gauthier states, ‘People will worry less about cycles and if it is a bull or bear run.’

Overall, 2025 is poised to be a transformative year in technology, with advancements across AI, social media, and various innovative sectors designed to meet new challenges and expectations.
