Weber Shandwick Launches Innovative AI Services with Weber I/O

Weber Shandwick Launches AI-Powered Service Weber I/O to Revolutionize Marketing

Interpublic Group agency Weber Shandwick has officially launched Weber I/O, a new service designed to integrate data, technology, and artificial intelligence into marketing and communications strategies. This initiative was unveiled on Tuesday by Dustin Johnson, the firm’s global chief commercial and innovation officer.

The aim of Weber I/O is to seamlessly bring together various aspects of the agency’s data and technology functions under one cohesive platform. “We want to drive adoption of AI-powered technology and intelligence, making it an integral part of our operations with our clients,” Johnson explained.

Dustin Johnson, who took on the role of global chief commercial and innovation officer just last week, will spearhead the global launch of Weber I/O. His previous experience as chief commercial officer and intelligence lead positions him well for this new challenge.

In his current role, Johnson oversees a team of approximately 350 staff members. He reports directly to Weber Shandwick North America CEO and global president, Jim O’Leary.

Weber I/O stands out by integrating analytics, data science, performance media, and AI advisory elements. By addressing the pace of change and complexity faced by marketing and communications professionals, this new service is set to enhance operational efficiency.

‘This is the moment where AI is not just theoretical but is being embedded into our business,’ Johnson commented on the launch.

This launch builds upon the earlier success of Weber Shandwick Futures, a generative AI-powered narrative intelligence service introduced last year.

Moreover, Weber Shandwick previously introduced an AI Accelerator to further boost its capabilities in this domain. Weber I/O aims to not only streamline systems but also to establish a collaborative hub for partners and clients, allowing for custom AI service co-creation.

Changes in Leadership and Structure at Weber Shandwick

In related news, Chris Perry, chief innovation officer and chairman of Weber Shandwick Futures, is set to leave the company on April 15 after over two decades. A spokesperson confirmed that his position will not be filled following his departure.

In terms of company performance, Weber Shandwick, part of the Interpublic Group, recorded solid revenue growth, with a 6% increase, reaching $970 million globally in the last year.

Amid these developments, the parent organization, the Weber Shandwick Collective, laid off 20 staff members globally last month and shuttered offices in Dallas and Minneapolis as part of a shift towards hybrid work models.

The introduction of Weber I/O is expected to sharpen the agency’s competitive edge, enhancing its service offerings and client relationships as it navigates the evolving landscape of marketing technology.
