In a recent study published by Ensono, a significant number of respondents highlighted the advantages of possessing generative AI skills in the tech industry. The survey, involving 1,500 female-identifying professionals, revealed that nearly 90% believe that knowledge of generative AI enhances their career performance and opens up new opportunities.

The Importance of Generative AI in Career Development

Women in tech are increasingly leveraging generative AI to boost their professional trajectories. As many consider switching jobs, this technology is seen as a critical skill set. According to the survey, the proportion of these women who consider themselves expert in generative AI skills has doubled compared to the previous year.

The Push Towards Flexibility and Leadership Roles

Despite the positive sentiments regarding generative AI, approximately one in five women in tech are contemplating leaving their current positions, echoing trends from last year’s great resignation. The reasons cited include the desire for greater workplace flexibility, influence in decision-making, and an improved work-life balance.

Shaping The Future Through Technology

According to Meredith Graham, Chief People Officer at Ensono, women’s integration of generative AI is not just a career enhancer but is also significant for shaping the future of technology. She stated, ‘As women embrace generative AI, they are not only advancing their careers but also playing a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive workplace culture.’

Looking Forward: Aspiring to Leadership

With more than three-quarters of survey respondents aiming for management positions—despite only 13% currently holding managerial roles—it’s clear that ambition is high. Furthermore, over 80% of participants expressed a desire for executive leadership positions, motivated by the potential for increased challenges and earning capabilities.

Women in tech are embracing the potential of generative AI to facilitate their advancement while navigating the complexities of a changing workplace.
