Ooredoo Group has announced its partnership with NVIDIA, becoming an NVIDIA Cloud Partner (NCP). This collaboration aims to position Ooredoo as a leading digital infrastructure provider in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region.
Ooredoo’s AI-Ready Platform
Ooredoo will leverage NVIDIA’s advanced computing platform to drive the AI revolution across MENA. The telecommunications giant, known for its wireless towers, financial technology leadership, and subsea cable ventures, aims to transform into a telecom and infrastructure holding with a de-layered multi-business structure. This transformation will enable Ooredoo to become the neutral carrier of choice, creating synergies across its ecosystem while ensuring business sustainability and expansion.
NVIDIA, based in Santa Clara, US, is renowned for its edge solutions for businesses, transforming possibilities into real-world results. The company assists data centers in leveraging GPU technology, designing software platforms, and supporting ecosystem partnerships. One of the significant costs for running a data center is power consumption, and NVIDIA aims to manage this sustainably.
Partnership Agreement
The partnership agreement was signed during TMForum’s DTW24 in Copenhagen, attended by Ooredoo Group CEO Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo and NVIDIA Senior Vice President of Telecom Ronnie Vasishta. The event was also covered by Mobile Magazine.
AI-Ready Platform Development
Ooredoo will develop an AI-ready platform powered by NVIDIA’s systems, software, and services to accelerate computing and hyperconnectivity in MENA. This collaboration will be supported by governments, enterprises, and startups across Qatar, Algeria, Tunisia, Oman, Kuwait, and the Maldives, providing access to NVIDIA’s latest full-stack AI platform.
This platform will be a valuable resource, assisting governments and supporting enterprises and startups to securely process their datasets, as well as produce valuable insights to power innovations for its users. Ooredoo will deploy its NVIDIA Tensor Core GPUs in its AI data centers, enabling customers across the region to use the AI platform with advanced infrastructure, tools, and software to drive efficiencies across businesses.
Benefits of the Collaboration
The collaboration between Ooredoo and NVIDIA will enhance AI infrastructure in the MENA region, providing:
- Enhanced security
- Optimized performance
- Customization to align with local standards
As a result, the countries where Ooredoo operates will be able to establish local clouds, leading to the development of AI ecosystems and applications that support data security measures. This initiative will drive economic growth, job creation, and technological advancement across the region by empowering customers with the AI cloud platform.
AI Digitalization and Innovation
Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo, Group CEO at Ooredoo, stated that implementing NVIDIA’s full-stack platform for accelerated computing and generative AI will position Ooredoo at the forefront of the AI revolution in MENA. “Ooredoo will drive digitalization and innovation as the leading digital infrastructure provider in the region,” said Aziz. “Working with NVIDIA, we aim to meet the significantly growing demand for accelerated computing infrastructure to support advanced AI models.”
Ronnie Vasishta, Senior Vice President of Telecom at NVIDIA, sees this collaboration as a way for customers to maximize AI benefits. “As a trusted regional telecommunications provider, Ooredoo Group combines deep enterprise and consumer relationships with the ability to invest in and deploy AI infrastructure and services,” said Ronnie. “By providing NVIDIA’s full-stack AI computing platform to customers, Ooredoo will help make it easier for their customers to deploy generative AI applications and services.”
